Official timing: 1:01:24.
Much better than my fear!
After eight(!!!) weeks of not running, it could have been much worse.
I anticipated to end somewhere around 1:06.00, but running by my heartrate, I had room to move a little faster than planned.
The weather was perfect. 12-14 degr. C. Sunny and almost no wind.
Had to do the usual zig-zag around runners , for the first 2K, that are just to stupid to understand the concept of startgroups arranged by anticipated finishtime.
Kept a steady pace at around 82-84% of MaxHR and managed to steadily progress during the race.
Found some runners that I used as pacers and then waited to push more until at 11K and then give it even more at 12K, maxing out on the final uphill towards the finish.
I could feel my achilles tendon a couple of times, but not as pain as such. More like “showing presence”.
My leg muscles are fatiqued, but not in pain.
If I had had a better start and pushed a little more from 8K to 10K, I could have gone 24 sec. faster.
But thats academic anyhow.
If I follow this with a quality recovery, I’m back on track and can prepare for the 30K trail run thats comming on october 27.
