Suzuki Celerio Exclusive KUP 2019 – and then four years later.

It basically startet with panic “I need a car NOW !”.

Suzuki Celerio Exclusive KUP modtaget 2019.

Årligt den 25. oktober
Sted:
Selch Biler, Suzuki, Birkerød Kongevej 85
Beskrivelse:Afhentet klokken 14.

Kun beregnet til foldede Anders And blade.

Suzuki Celerio Exclusive KUP received 2019, friday Oct. 25 at 14.00.
Location: Selch Biler, Suzuki, Birkerød Kongevej 85, Birkerød, Denmark.
The car has driven 16 km when collected.

The car started with a long trip Birkerød-Helsingør-Rødby (Lalandia, my mother’s 80th birthday) and returning on Sunday.

To start with the negative:

The steering is like a heavy bag of boiled rice. The center position feels undefinable and the servo assistance only works right after turning a little of the center position of the steering wheel, after which the steering feels a little tighter and still imprecise.
It is indeed easy to drive in city traffic, but needs to be corrected a little all the time.
The steering is very similar to the steering of Japanese cars in the early 1970s, but without the steering wheel blur from that time.

The seats have no, as in no, lumbar support.
The padding in the seat is good, but the backrest is designed completely straight.
On long trips it is a bit noticeable, but after these four years it has not been an issue.

Storage space in the front doors is ridiculous.
The door compartment is narrow, long and deep in hard plastic, so any contents rattle audibly.
Only intended for folded newspapers.
There is room for a window snow scraper in the door compartment, but not a collapsible umbrella.

The rust protection from the factory is embarrassingly poor for a climate like the Danish one and there are no inner fenders at the rear wheels.
I had additional rust proofing and inner fenders done, right after I bought the car.

Engine-wise, it is the weakest car I have ever owned.
Accelleration is counted in calender-days…

The noise level in the cabin is a bit high. This is primarily due to the fact that the roof is clearly not soundproofed sufficiently (if at all).
However, it is liveable, except in hail, when it is totally noisy.
Tire noise comes through clearly, so make sure you choose tires that don’t make noise.

The luggage compartment is of a regular size, but the base plate that covers the spare wheel well is embarrassingly thin.
I got the car without a spare wheel (big mistake!), so the well for the spare wheel was filled with a large flamingo box and a patch kit with pump.
Waste of space!
So I stiffened the base plate and mounted some blocks so that the plate could lie stable…
And painted the bottom white, for making it easier to find stuff in some dark and stormy night.
Later I got an emergency spare wheel.

If the rear seat backrests are folded forward, the load surface is not flat. Annoying when larger things like a dishwasher have to be pushed in!

The paint is possibly the thinnest and softest car paint I have ever seen.
Small stone chips and microscratches come very quickly.

These are the negative points I have been able to find.

In no way more than I usually find in all cars I get my hands on 🙂

The car is cheap in all respects but has shown to be very reliable.

The advantages of such a small, light and weak-engined car are that the wear and tear is very limited.

The brakes last twice ot four times as long as on the Alfa Romeos and cost less than half as much to fix.
Correspondingly, tire wear is minimal, as the car is not particularly heavy and is not fast.
This also shows in relation to bushings, bearings, which after 80,000 km still looks new.

The cabin’s various versions of hard plastic have proven to be long-lasting and if you don’t exactly make deep scratches in it, it still looks new.

The issues I’ve had are few.
I had to solder the blower resistor after a couple of month.
The resister otherwise was fine, but no QC had looked at it.
After four month I got hit by a stone and got a small crack in the windshield that was repaired, but still visible.
That gets to me!

What I’ve found to miss?
In the Danish climate I miss heated side mirrors.
Sound proofing of the roof would have been very nice.
Manual door lock on both front doors. I’ve had someone try to break open the front door lock and ruined it, so I can only use the remote doorlock.
And then heated seats in the front!
