Vikingesporet 2024

The positives first:
The weather was stunningly great.

Above you see the starting area. Relaxed people and a lot of them familliar from other races.
Allways nice.
The route, as a trailrun, was good, the markings where ok’ish – but “challenging” at points, but trailrunners are always good at helping each other.

Personally I got from the race what I wanted/needed.
The negatives:
Changes to the route and the starting area was given with a two day notice, and not even highlighted.
If the mail was scimmed, it would be easy to miss, that the starting area had been moved to a different location.
No info about parking, no info about depots, but clearly stated that “Denne nye rute er designet til at være tilgængelig for alle. Du behøver kun et par almindelige løbesko for at deltage – ruten er ikke teknisk, men fokuserer på at nyde naturen og den samlede oplevelse.” – “This new route is designed to be accessible to everyone. You only need a pair of regular running shoes to participate – the route is not technical, but focuses on enjoying nature and the overall experience.”.
That was FAR from the truth, and my brand new pair of HOKA Clifton 9’s are more or less ruined.
I slipped and had a nasty fall at around 18,5K. Hit my head(!) this time and got the wind knocked hard out of me aswell, and my ribs gave a small crack and has been hurting ever since.
Aimed to run with a high heartrate (HR) around 82-86% of MaxHR, but overdid it on a few occasions and hit around 92-96%.
Dailed it back when it happened, and was lucky that I could push hard for the last 4K and even sprint 100m at the finnish.
I managed to exceed my MaxHR in the sprint, and my watch began sounding the alarm for a cardiac arrest/heart faillure.
That has happened before…

I’m pissed that my shoes are ruined and not sure if I want to do the Trailman events any more.
There is always “something” that fails with the Trailman runs.
That be the distance, turning points, depot’s (several times!), routes or what ever.
Thomas is a very nice guy, but with the money I pay for the races and the effort I put in to it, I get so frustrated everytime.
I’m mad about my ruined shoes!!!
Additional good: The other runners.
They are a reason to go to these races.
Many of us participates in the same races all year, so it’s like meeting old friends.
Negativity is really rare in the sport of trailrunning, even if it looks different from what I have written above.
The atmosphere between runners are always positive and helpfull and supportive.
And the volunteers at the races are always smiling and working hard to make things work.

The finisher medal is nice!
